The current coronavirus crisis has dramatically accelerated the movement of many educational systems and platforms to new virtual models, sparking a new round of innovations. The NSF encourages proposals from startups and small businesses launching new innovations in information technology or artificial intelligence including, but not limited to: enabling or enhancing the delivery, practice or assessment of online cyberlearning; learning engineering through data extraction, analysis, testing, and other activities; applications of learning modalities, including the enabling of virtual education at scale; and other innovations during and beyond COVID-19.

America’s Seed Fund powered by the National Science Foundation (NSF) awards more than $200 million annually to startups and small businesses, transforming scientific discovery into products and services with commercial and societal impact. Startups working across virtually every discipline of science and technology can receive up to $1.75 million to support research and development (R&D), helping de-risk technology for commercial success. America’s Seed Fund is congressionally mandated through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. The NSF is an independent federal agency with a budget of about $8.3 billion that supports fundamental research and education across all fields of science and engineering.
