Visiting researcher position in STEM education at Indiana University – Bloomington

Please consider applying for our visiting researcher position in STEM education at Indiana University – Bloomington. The position requires work across two NSF-funded projects related to the study of making and engineering education. Work on these projects primarily includes qualitative data collection and analysis – particularly of videos and interview data. We are looking for someone with strong skills in social science research methods and analysis, writing, and a demonstrated interest in making and STEM education, with specific experience in engineering or engineering education. The goal of the primary project is working with kids and caregivers on engineering challenges. The second project involves researching an engineering outreach program with upper elementary school children.

Salary is competitive, and the position comes with benefits. The appointment is for one year with possible extension dependent on satisfactory performance review and continued availability of funding. Start date is targeted for October 1, 2019 – September 30, 2020 and the position requires residency in or frequent travel to Bloomington.

Minimum qualifications: A completed doctorate in engineering education or a related field by the time employment begins; research experience and publications in STEM education; strong writing and communication skills; demonstrated experience in collecting and analyzing video and interview data. Preferred qualifications: Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively; expertise in making and/or engineering education.
