New online community technologies and collaboration practices have led to organizations that blur the boundaries between learning environments, communities of practice, and collective innovation, allowing us simultaneously orchestrate learning, use real-world projects, and develop impactful solutions. In this expertise exchange, we’ll describe models for bridging formal/informal learning and citizen science using examples from the ISpot and nQuire-it citizen science project and the Design for America network.
