Identity & Learning: Opportunities and Tensions for Cyberlearning

ee
This is an expertise exchange in the Cyberlearning 2019 Expertise Exchange session

Session Leaders: Tamara Clegg, Yolanda Rankin, Britte Cheng

Learners’ identity development is critical to educational and learning outcomes. Hence, researchers now recognize the importance of considering learners’ identities in design and research of curriculum and instruction, and as a mechanism of promoting equity. This session will bring researchers together to consider how research on the role of identity in learning processes has developed, what directions this field should go in as related to cyberlearning in particular, opportunities and tensions inherent in the work, and what resources researchers would like to access to support their work going forward. The session will employ small group discussions, as well as whole group reflections to advance these goals.
